The pandemic reinforced the public health vs. personal freedom divide. Policies deployed to track contagions placed surveillance capitalism in a privileged position, while digital platforms became the only avenue for both professional and personal life. What have we given up along the way, and how can we get it back?

For this debate we will be joined by Darian Meacham, a specialist in political philosophy and philosophy of technology at the Brightlands Institute for Smart Society (BISS) at Maastricht University, who will talk about solidarity in public health.

Joining the debate will be Manuel Armayones, a specialist in persuasive design in digital health and director of the Behavioural Design Laboratory of the Psychology, Health and Network (PSINET) research group at the eHealth University Centre of the Open University of Catalonia (UOC). Both will talk with bioethicist Begoña Román.
