How can we continue to finance our democracies, the European welfare state and make them economically sustainable in the new geopolitical context? The current economic context demands that we ask ourselves, what are the sustainable strategies for financing European and Spanish democracies.

During the activity to be held at the Palau Macaya on 13 October, all of these questions will be raised and answers will be sought to others: How and to what extent can we finance ourselves? What can we expect in terms of economic and fiscal policy? What growth policies will we use? How can we continue to pay for our democracies or continue to live within the European welfare state?

Santiago Lago, Professor in the Department of Applied Economics at the University of Vigo and Director of the Governance and Economics Research Network (GEN), and Teresa García-Milà, Professor in the Department of Economics and Business at Pompeu Fabra University and Director of the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics, will participate in the activity.
