What do we know about the history of Eastern Europe? Today, the conflict in Ukraine brings starkly to the table the complexity of a region that has been left off the media map after the collapse of the Soviet Union and which Western Europe has tended to ignore beyond economic exchanges. But part of what our continent is today is born of the history and conflicts that have been traced in this vast territory, a cultural, economic and social history that is fundamental to understanding Europe's present beyond critical moments such as the present. What is the Europe that emerges from the post-Soviet space? What legacy comes to us from this region that challenges the whole of Europe's inhabitants?

The polyphony of voices is one of the main features of the literary work of Nobel Prize winner Svetlana Alekseyevich, one of the great writers of our time. Her books narrate the history of the former Soviet Union through the testimonies of those who have experienced it first-hand. In this session, Aleksievich talks about the future we can imagine for Europe in a conversation with Jorge Ferrer, who has translated some of her works into Spanish, and the journalist Silvia Fehrmann, who is linked to the Berlin institutions that take in artists in exile from Eastern Europe.
