Although we may not be fully aware of it, Barcelona's Islamic past is still present in the streets of our city. The Casa de les Altures will host the activity "Barxiluna. Memòria i desmemòria del passat i present islàmic de la ciutat", in the Sala Lluís Companys on 13 October.

The main objective of the activity is to raise an open debate on how the heritage linked to the Islamic past of the Catalan capital has been dealt with. Heritage discourse is always a discourse linked to national identity and belonging. A story about what is considered to be one's own and about the genealogy that is inscribed in it.

In this sense, what does the little attention received by the memory of all things Islamic and how Barcelona City Council and its cultural institutions act in terms of the history and identity of the city tell us?

The debate will be moderated by Fátima Charkaoui and will include the participation of personalities such as Bilal Sarr, Abdennur Prado and Camila Opazo Sepúlveda, linked to the situation that will be discussed during the day.
