In the current context of the war in Ukraine, which adds to the fifty or so active armed conflicts around the world, the well-known essay by the thinker Susan Sontag on the representation of suffering is strikingly relevant.

This dramatised reading revolves around the impact of images that bear witness to violence and the ethical burden that falls on the gaze that contemplates them. "In the face of the horror of war," says Sontag, "we cannot fall into indifference or amnesia: we must keep our eyes and our conscience open.

The director and playwright Carlota Subirós proposes a reading of a selection of fragments of Sontag's text, articulated on the basis of a powerful sound work by the composer Clara Aguilar and with the reading voices of the actress and singer Yolanda Sey and the director herself.
