Gemma Ubasart González

Political scientist

Graduate, Diploma of Advanced Studies (DEA) and PhD in Political Science from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). She also holds a DEA in Law, a European Master's degree in the Penal System and Social Problems from the University of Barcelona (UB) and an international diploma in Critical Criminology. She holds a CIS postgraduate degree in Applied Social Research and Data Analysis. She has carried out numerous international teaching and research stays in several European and American countries.

She is currently Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Girona (UdG) and Visiting Professor at the University Lumière Lyon 2. Her areas of interest revolve around public policy, political conflict and social change, especially in Southern Europe and Latin America.  

She is a political analyst for several written and audiovisual media. She has published books and chapters with national and international publishers and has publications in journals such as Social and Legal Studies, International Journal of Sociology and Social Policy, Crime Law and Social Change, Revista de Estudios Políticos, among many others. 

Recently, he has co-ordinated three collective works of an educational and informative nature: Política i Govern a Catalunya: de la transició a l'actualitat, with Salvador Martí; Manual de l'Estat del Benestar i les polítiques sociolaborals, with Ferran Camas and Vides en transició. (Re)construir ciutadania social, with Ricard Gomà.
