Between poetry, philosophy and aesthetics, Chantal Maillard has developed a body of work marked by reflection on language, thought and the margins of experience. Born in Brussels in 1951, she has lived in Málaga, Barcelona and Benares, where she specialised in Indian philosophies. She was Associate Professor of Aesthetics and Theory of the Arts at the University of Málaga. As a poet, she was awarded the National Poetry Prize in 2004 for Matar a Platón, and the National Critics’ Prize and the Andalusia Critics’ Prize in 2007 for Hilos. Her most recent books include La compasión difícil (2019), La arena entre los dedos (2020), Medea (2020), La ira (2021), Las venas del dragón (2021), Decir los Márgenes (2024) and her Poesía completa (2025).
