Sofia Andrukhóvitx
Ukrainian writer and translator
Her work combines realism with fantastic elements to explore themes such as historical memory, the cultural diversity of the Ukrainian people and the impact of the past on the present. Among her best-known works are the novels Felix Austria (Stari Lev, 2014) and Amadoca (Salamandra, 2026), an epic that traces key episodes in Ukraine's recent history, including the Holocaust, Stalinist repression and the Russo-Ukrainian War of 2014. Andrukhóvitx's work has received numerous awards, including the Hermann Hesse International Prize, the Sholem Aleichem Prize and the Stockholm International Literature Award. She has also served as co-editor of the journal Chetver, taken part in international literary initiatives such as a residency at Villa Decius in Kraków, and in 2021 received the Women in Arts Award for Literature.
