Alessandro Baricco
Writer, essayist, playwright and music critic
Founder and director of the Scuola Holden writing school in Turin, he is one of the leading figures in contemporary Italian literature. Among his works, published in Spanish by Anagrama, are the novels Tierras de cristal (1998), Océano mar (1999), Seda (1997), Sin sangre (2003), Esta historia (2007), La esposa joven (2016) and Abel (2024); as well as the theatrical monologue Novecento (2003), the retelling of Homer’s Ilíada (2005), and the essays Next: Sobre la globalización y el mundo que viene (2006), Los bárbaros: ensayo sobre la mutación (2008) and Breve historia herética de la música clásica (2026, published in Catalan by Ara Llibres). His work has been translated into numerous languages and has received several awards, including the Viareggio Prize, Selezione Campiello, Prix Médicis Étranger, Fondazione Il Campiello and Penna d’oro.
