What impulse has driven us, since the dawn of time, to create? Alessandro Baricco, one of the leading voices in contemporary literature, joins composer Joan Magrané for a conversation about the mystery and fascination of artistic creation—whether in music or literature—and the invisible threads through which art connects us across time.

Every novel, every song, opens a window into the human soul: an attempt to make sense of our experience and the full range of emotions that accompany it. Art bears the imprint of its time while also extending an invisible thread that connects us with other times, past and future. Alessandro Baricco, a leading figure in Italian and European literature, as well as a passionate music lover and music critic, reflects with composer Joan Magrané on the human impulse that sets every artistic creation in motion. Drawing on some of the Turin-born author's major literary works and the publication of his latest book, Breu història herètica de la música clàssica (Ara Llibres/Anagrama, 2026), Baricco and Magrané discuss the enduring relevance of the classics, the creation of artistic canons, and the mysterious fascination that works of art continue to inspire in all their forms.

Session with simultaneous interpretation.
