Bernat Castany
Literature lecturer and writer
Working across literature, philosophy and the essay, Bernat Castany Prado has developed a career focused on critical thought, scepticism, the Enlightenment tradition and contemporary cultural forms. Born in Barcelona in 1977, he holds degrees in Philosophy and Hispanic Philology from the University of Barcelona, a PhD in Philology from the same university and a PhD in Cultural Studies from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. He is currently a lecturer in Latin American Literature and Literary Studies at the University of Barcelona. His essays include Literatura posnacional (2007), Que nada se sabe. El escepticismo en la obra de J. L. Borges (2012), Pensamiento crítico ilustrado (2022), Una filosofía del miedo (2022), Obedecedario patriarcal (2024), co-written with Sara Berbel Sánchez, and Una filosofía de la risa (2026).
