Carmen Díez Medina

Professor and PhD in Architecture

She is Professor of Architecture at the University of Zaragoza and holds a PhD in Architecture from Vienna University of Technology. Her research focuses on architectural and urban heritage, architectural theory, architectural composition, the architecture of the city and cultural heritage.

She has published numerous articles and books, including Rafael Moneo. Construir las ideas (1954-2024) (Acantilado, 2026) and Ciudad de Bloques. Reflexiones retrospectivas y prospectivas sobre los polígonos de vivienda ‘modernos’ (with J. Monclús; Abada, 2020), among others. She is the editor of Escritos sobre arquitectos españoles (1961-2021) (Ministerio de Fomento, 2023). She has curated several exhibitions, including ‘Nuevas miradas y exploraciones urbanas. Zaragoza 1968-2018’ (Palacio de Congresos de Zaragoza and COAA, 2018), ‘Bruno Morassutti. Opere e progetti 2020-2007’ (COAM, 2010) and ‘El Memorial Masieri de F. LL. Wright en Venecia’ (MOPU, Madrid, 2004).

She is a member of the Paisajes Urbanos y Proyecto Contemporáneo (PUPC) research group and the University Research Institute for Heritage and Humanities (IPH). As an architect, she has collaborated with the practices of Rafael Moneo and Hubmann & Vass.
