Héctor Mellinas

Actor, playwright and theatre director

He holds a degree in Catalan Philology from the University of Barcelona and is an associate lecturer in the Department of Language and Literary Education at the same university, specialising in literature, theatre and art. He has worked as assistant director to Anna Güell and Sergi Belbel. As a creator, he has premiered his productions at venues including Dau al Sec, La Gleva, Golem’s Teatre, Teatre del Raval and Escenari Joan Brossa. He has also created site-specific performances for the Refugi Antiaeri de Sant Adrià del Besòs and has been selected on several occasions as a director for the staged reading series organised by the Associació d’Actors i Directors Professionals de Catalunya.

He has worked on a number of productions, including Don Juan i Faust (una cacera) at the Teatre Lliure (2021); Romeo Castellucci’s Bros, presented at Teatro Comandini, Temporada Alta and Festival Grec (2022); and Josep M. de Sagarra’s Els tangos de Sagarra (2024). He has received numerous awards, including Best Director and Best Leading Actor at Barcelona’s Festival Mutis for Un quadre, una paret, una piscina, as well as the Zittel Award and the Festival Mutis awards for Best Supporting Actor and Best Leading Actor.
