Actors Chantal Aimée and Héctor Mellinas give voice to Susan Sontag and John Berger in a dramatised reading based on their conversations, lectures and correspondence, collected in the volume Explicar una història.
What is our relationship with the images that parade across the media and social networks? Do we necessarily become more sensitive through repeated exposure to photographs of pain, poverty and suffering, or does the opposite happen? And what happens when we remove them from their context and history?
Essayist Susan Sontag and art critic John Berger transformed the way we approach the ethical implications of images and storytelling in contemporary culture. At the Aspen International Conference (1974), as part of the programme ‘Between Self and System’, they both challenged the idea that information, in itself, gives us access to the truth.
In this dramatised reading, drawn from the volume Explicar una història (Arcàdia / Editorial GG, 2026), Héctor Mellinas and Chantal Aimée bring to life one of the most stimulating intellectual encounters of the second half of the 20th century.
Free admission. Limited capacity. Admission will be prioritised on a first-come, first-served basis.
