Israel Solà

Theatre director and playwright

He is co-founder of the theatre company La Calòrica, which engages with social issues such as the rise of populism, increasing precarity, criticism of neoliberal capitalism and the climate emergency. Productions he has directed include La brama del cérvol (2025), Le congrès ne marche pas (2023), De què parlem mentre no parlem de tota aquesta merda (2021), Els ocells (2018) and Fairfly (2017), with productions receiving Max, Crítica and Butaca awards.

As a playwright, he wrote and directed Austràlia (2022) and has adapted classics for Parking Shakespeare. His works have premiered at the TNC, Teatre Lliure, Gran Teatre del Liceu and Sala Beckett. He has also collaborated on social theatre projects such as En Residència and Pla de Barris and is co-creator of the series Sala Polivalent for 3Cat.
