Juan Evaristo Valls
Philosopher and essayist
The philosophy of culture, affect theory and the critique of late capitalism run through Juan Evaristo Valls Boix’s research. Professor of Philosophy of Culture at the Complutense University of Madrid, he holds two PhDs, in Contemporary Philosophy and Literary Theory, and is a member of the Post-Foundational Contemporary Thought research group. He has been a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, Riverside, and a visiting researcher at institutions including the École Normale Supérieure in Paris, the University of Copenhagen and Stony Brook University.
His research focuses on idleness and the refusal of work in late capitalism, with particular attention to contemporary French philosophy. His publications include Giorgio Agamben: Política sense obra (2020), Metafísica de la pereza (2022), Suely Rolnik. Decolonizar el inconsciente (2024) and El derecho a las cosas bellas (2025).
