Sociolinguistics, critical discourse analysis and social activism are at the heart of Laura Camargo’s career. She holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics from the Universidad de Alcalá and is a senior lecturer at the Universitat de les Illes Balears. Her research focuses on sociolinguistics and critical discourse analysis, fields in which she has published nearly one hundred academic works in Spain and internationally, including the book Trumpismo discursivo. She has participated in several competitive research projects and has taught postgraduate courses and given talks and lectures at universities in Mexico, Cuba, Chile and the United States. A regular contributor to various media outlets, she combines research and teaching with social activism. From 2015 to 2019, she was a member and spokesperson of the Parlament de les Illes Balears.
