Leila Guerriero
Journalist and writer
Narrative journalism, reportage and literary non-fiction define Leila Guerriero’s career. Born in Argentina in 1967, she contributes to media outlets in Latin America and Europe including El País, Piauí, Gatopardo and Granta. She is the author of books including Los suicidas del fin del mundo, Frutos extraños, Plano americano, Una historia sencilla, Zona de obras, Opus Gelber, Teoría de la gravedad, La otra guerra, La llamada and La dificultad del fantasma. Her work has been translated into English, French, German, Portuguese and Italian, among other languages. She has received awards including the CEMEX-FNPI Prize and the 2025 Premio Cálamo Extraordinario. La llamada received the Premio Zenda de Narrativa and the Prix du Meilleur Livre Étranger; its Italian translation, La Chiamata, won the European Strega Prize in 2026. She is Latin America editor of the Mexican magazine Gatopardo.
