Montse Barderi

Writer, philosopher and cultural journalist

Born in Sabadell in 1969, she specialises in gender studies and is the author of around fifteen works of fiction, essays and young adult literature. In 2019, she won the Prudenci Bertrana Prize for La memòria de l’aigua (Columna, 2019). She contributes to TV3’s La selva, is a regular contributor to La tarda on Catalunya Ràdio and writes the Tribuna column for El Punt Avui.

She heads the Literature and Thought programme at Sabadell City Council, where she promotes projects focused on literary creation, reflection and dissemination. A founding trustee of the Fundació Maria-Mercè Marçal, she has also curated the Any Teresa Pàmies and the 2025 MOT festival. Her career combines literary creation, feminist thought, journalism and cultural management with a clear public vocation. Her works have been translated into several languages and acclaimed by critics and readers. Her latest novel is El mar, que brilla i riu (Columna, 2025).
