Rafael Moneo
Architect and co-founder of the journal Arquitecturas Bis
He holds a degree in Architecture from the ETSAM. He has taught at the Schools of Architecture in Madrid and Barcelona, as well as at Harvard University, where he is currently Sert Professor of Architecture. His extensive body of architectural work includes the Museum of Roman Art in Mérida, the Kursaal in San Sebastián, the Museum of Modern Art in Stockholm, the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles and the extension of the Prado Museum. Alongside his architectural practice, Rafael Moneo is also active as a lecturer and critic, which has taken him to numerous institutions around the world. He has published several books on architecture, including Inquietud teórica y estrategia proyectual en la obra de ocho arquitectos contemporáneos (Acantilado, 2004), Apuntes sobre 21 obras (Acantilado, 2010) and La vida de los edificios (Acantilado, 2017). He has received numerous distinctions, including the Pritzker Architecture Prize, the RIBA Royal Gold Medal and the Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts.
