With a performance language marked by physical strength, humour and a blend of genres, Sol Picó is one of the most acclaimed figures in contemporary dance. Born in Alcoi, she founded the company that bears her name in 1994 and has since developed a career characterised by hybridity, vitality and a direct relationship with audiences. Her work combines dance, theatre and other performance languages, with a distinctive style that defies convention and embraces the power of movement.

Over the course of her career, she has created more than forty shows, presented on national and international tours that have taken her to stages across Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa. Her work has been presented at leading festivals and theatres, establishing an enduring presence on the international circuit. She has received numerous awards and distinctions, including Spain’s National Dance Award (2016), more than ten Max Awards for the Performing Arts, the Generalitat de Catalunya’s National Dance Award, the Ciutat de Barcelona Award and the Creu de Sant Jordi.
