Wendy Brown

Political theorist

An internationally renowned figure in political theory and contemporary critical thought, Wendy Brown has devoted her work to analysing forms of power, neoliberalism, democracy, political subjectivity and transformations in public life. She is UPS Foundation Professor Emerita in the School of Social Science at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton and Professor Emerita of Political Science and Critical Theory at the University of California, Berkeley. The author of a dozen books translated into more than twenty languages, her most recent works include In the Ruins of Neoliberalism: The Rise of Anti-Democratic Politics in the West (2019) and Nihilistic Times: Thinking with Max Weber (2023). She is currently completing a book provisionally titled Reparative Democracy: A Post-Liberal Politics for the 21st Century.
