This year we celebrate the 300th birthday of German philosopher Immanuel Kant (1724-1804), undoubtedly one of the most lucid and influential minds of Western thought. However, the complexity of his work often makes understanding his theories difficult.
In this talk, philosopher Miquel Seguró Mendlewicz will lead a discussion with Professor and specialist in Kant Begoña Román to render some of Kant’s most essential ideas more accessible in terms of epistemology- how far can knowledge take us? - ethics - how should we behave? - and aesthetics- what is beauty? They will also discuss which of these ideas have been strongly criticised and how some of them are particularly relevant today, for example the role of social networks, the challenges of artificial intelligence, climate change and political uncertainty.
