It is located in a place with a long history; a 12th century church that became the Montalegre nuns' convent in the 13th century and later the Jesuits' conciliar seminary in the 16th century. In the 18th century, a military barracks and a correctional institution were installed. Finally, in 1802, King Charles IV authorized the creation of a charitable establishment, the hospice of the Casa de Caritat, for the care of the most disadvantaged population, which ceased to function in 1957, when the new headquarters in the Vall d'Hebron neighbourhood (Llars Mundet) were inaugurated.
