Maryam Madjidi
Writer and translator
Uprootedness, language, identity and class run through the work of Maryam Madjidi, a Franco-Iranian writer and translator. Her writing combines intimate evocation and political reflection, drawing on a personal experience shaped by the Iranian Revolution, exile and life between languages and cultures. Her best-known works include Marx y la muñeca (2018), an autobiographical account of childhood and exile that received the Goncourt Prize for a First Novel. She is also the author of La edad ridícula (2026), a coming-of-age novel that takes a critical and humorous look at the ideal of integration, equal opportunities and the possibility of meritocracy for migrant communities.
