Who sets the rules of digital leisure in the platform era? How can we contest digital environments designed to capture our attention, data and time on a cultural level?
This panel invites us to consider video games and platforms not simply as entertainment, but as cultural technologies where learning, relationships, imaginaries and business models are shaped. Moving beyond moral panic and prohibitionist responses, it opens up a conversation about governance, predatory design, digital rights and the ways in which these environments particularly affect children and young people.
Luca Carrubba, a researcher, lecturer and curator specialising in digital culture and video games, proposes this space for critical dialogue from a perspective that understands digital leisure as a space for cultural transformation. Participants include Ivelise Fortim, psychologist and researcher at PUC-SP and a leading expert on childhood, mental health, video games and virtual platforms, and Proyecto UNA, an anonymous research and writing collective focused on analysing the internet, mass culture, capitalism and feminist resistance.
Session with simultaneous interpretation.
Free admission. Limited capacity.
