What role do young people play in the fight for climate justice? How do movements from the Global South and transnational movements come together to defend the environment and their territories?
Environmental degradation reveals an extractive economic model that deepens historical inequalities and threatens the material, social and political conditions that sustain life. Against this backdrop, the discussion will explore how young people organise locally and transnationally to address the concrete impacts of environmental degradation and develop ways of influencing policy.
Participants include Erica Njuguna, a Kenyan trans activist, global coordinator of ANGRY, organiser with Fridays for Future MAPA and member of the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty Initiative, whose work connects climate justice with debt cancellation. Joining her is Víctor Uallas, an agroecologist and social leader from the Terra Vista settlement and member of Teia dos Povos, who will bring experience rooted in agroecology, food sovereignty, cooperativism and the defence of rural communities in Brazil. The discussion will be moderated by Sara Santana Ribés, a Catalan communicator and ecosocial activist.
Session with simultaneous interpretation.
Free admission. Limited capacity.
