In the age of social media and accelerationism, are we becoming increasingly isolated, less able to listen and less able to speak? What do we lose when we are unable to tell our own story? Why do we need words to make sense of our own experience, even when that experience is terrible?

In Sin relato (Anagrama), psychoanalyst and writer Lola López Mondéjar explores how, under attention capitalism, where we are constantly bombarded with stimuli, we have paradoxically become unable to engage in dialogue, pay attention to others and understand them. She examines in depth the consequences of having no words, of being unable to shape our experiences into a narrative.

In Trist Tigre (Anagrama), writer Neige Sinno explores the consequences of the sexual abuse she suffered at the hands of her stepfather as a child. She does so through testimony, drawing on literature and its capacity to shape a brutal experience into a narrative that, at times, is difficult even to read.

Together with sociologist Miquel Missé, this panel explores the need to tell our stories despite —or precisely because of— contexts of uncertainty, because ultimately, storytelling creates community.

Free admission.
