The authors of the five projects shortlisted for the 2026 European Prize for Urban Public Space present their projects to the jury.
Organised by the CCCB since 2000, the European Prize for Urban Public Space recognises and promotes the most significant projects creating and transforming public spaces in European cities. The 2026 edition has set a new participation record, with 381 entries from 38 European countries. In the first stage, the jury —chaired by architect Eva Prats and comprising Angelika Fitz (Austria), Monika Konrad (Poland), Inês Lobo (Portugal), Bas Smets (Belgium) and Philip Ursprung (Switzerland)— selected 25 projects and, from among them, the five finalists now competing in the final stage.
The five projects show how cities in different European contexts are addressing shared challenges such as climate change, sustainable mobility, social cohesion and environmental restoration. In addition to the architectural quality of the interventions, the jury has recognised their capacity to improve collective life and strengthen public space as a setting for coexistence, inclusion and democratic life. On 15 October, during the Prize award ceremony, the jury will announce the winning project of this edition.
Free admission. Limited capacity. Admission will be prioritised on a first-come, first-served basis.
