Who gets to tell the world's stories? How can we move beyond a Eurocentric perspective when thinking about today's challenges? Omar El Akkad and Fatima Bhutto reflect on how to make space for non-Western narratives and voices.

The long shadow of imperialism and colonialism continues to shape the way we see and explain the world, from the real and fictional stories we consume through our screens to the deeply tangible effects of global geopolitics. Through literature, journalism and political analysis, writers and journalists Omar El Akkad and Fatima Bhutto have spent years challenging these reductive cultural representations, placing particular emphasis on the stigmas that still affect communities such as Muslims.

In this conversation, Bhutto and El Akkad call for greater space for stories that have traditionally been silenced and highlight the power of multiple identities and plural narratives to help us understand today's world.

Session with simultaneous interpretation.

Free admission. Limited capacity.
